POLO SERIES · HAOBOMFG OEM
Custom Pique Polo Manufacturing for Private-Label Brands
The photographed reference is a short-sleeve zip-neck polo with green collar edging. A button placket is a separate construction option. A piqué polo needs the fabric, collar and front opening to work together. HaoboMFG develops custom polos from your reference garment or tech pack, coordinating sourcing, patterns, sampling, decoration and cut-and-sew production in Foshan, China.
This page focuses on textured piqué polos for branded casual and uniform collections. Performance golf polos have a different fabric and testing brief; compare our golf performance polo development page if that is your intended product.

Choose the pique for the intended collection
Begin with the end use and the feel you want. Cotton piqué, polyester piqué and blends can require different sourcing and decoration decisions. State the exact composition and target GSM rather than asking only for “polo fabric”. If stretch, a softer surface or a particular wash finish matters, include it in the brief.
Piqué is a textured knit structure made with knit and tuck stitches. The structure name does not specify the fibre composition, GSM or a moisture-management result. If your collection needs a measurable performance claim, define the requirement and testing method separately.
For colour approval, provide a physical reference or specified colour standard. Agree whether a stock shade is acceptable or whether a lab dip is required. Review the body fabric beside the collar, cuffs, zipper components and thread so that these components are approved as one combination.
Make the collar and placket measurable
A general request for a “smart fit” leaves important construction decisions unresolved. Record finished collar width, collar-point shape, opening dimensions, zipper placement and sleeve opening. Include chest width and body length as garment measurements, with the measurement method and tolerances agreed before production.
Specify whether side vents are required and how they should be finished. Review the polo with its zipper open and closed during sampling: the collar should present the intended shape, and the opening should sit as designed rather than pulling to one side.
HaoboMFG can review these requirements through OEM and ODM apparel development. Final construction details are approved in the sample, rather than assumed from the name of the garment.
Position the logo on the selected fabric
Provide the logo file, finished dimensions, colours and distances from fixed measurement points. For embroidery, review stitch density and backing with the selected piqué, then approve the application on that fabric. For print or heat transfer, approve an application on the actual chosen material before agreeing the finish.
Include care-label wording and any required decoration wash assessment in the production brief. A sample review can establish the appearance you approve; a specific durability claim requires the corresponding agreed test and result.
Review a complete polo sample
Use the sample development process to confirm the fabric, collar and cuff references, placket construction, garment measurements and logo placement together. Keep comments tied to one current measurement file and one revision record.
Before authorising bulk production, confirm which sample and material references are approved. Agree the inspection points for collar symmetry, opening alignment, zipper attachment and operation, seam appearance, logo position and measurements. Where laundering checks are required, define the wash conditions and acceptable changes rather than relying on a generic “good quality” statement.
Your private-label package can include the main label, care label, size labels, hangtags and packing requirements. Send these early enough to be included in the quotation and sample review.
Polo production questions
Does pique specify the fibre content or performance?
No. Piqué names the knit structure, not a fixed cotton content, fabric weight or quick-drying result. Specify those requirements separately and approve the material through a swatch and sample.
Can the collar and logo be developed for my brand?
Yes. Send the collar reference, dimensions and artwork for review. Colour matching, logo method and trim availability are confirmed for your order.
What does the MOQ apply to?
The starting MOQ is 50 pieces per style, per colour. Include your size breakdown and any custom fabric or trim requirements so the final order terms can be confirmed.
How is the production schedule agreed?
Sampling and bulk dates are confirmed after reviewing the construction, material availability, decoration and quantity. Ask the quotation to identify the approval and payment milestones from which the agreed schedule starts.
